How to Reset password by editing your database using PhpMyAdmin?

If you are locked out of your WordPress admin dashboard, you can easily reset your password manually using phpMyAdmin from your cPanel.

Step 1: Access phpMyAdmin

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll down to the Databases section and click on phpMyAdmin.

Step 2: Locate your WordPress Database

  1. In phpMyAdmin, click on Databases from the top menu to view all databases in your account.
  2. Click on your specific WordPress database name.

Step 3: Open the Users Table

  1. Look for the users table (usually named wp_users, or with your custom database prefix like yourprefix_users).
  2. Click on it to view the table contents.

Step 4: Edit the Administrator User

  1. Find your admin username in the list and click the Edit button next to it.

Step 5: Change the Password

  1. Locate the user_pass input box.
  2. Clear the existing encrypted text and type your new password.
  3. From the function dropdown menu next to user_pass, select MD5 to hash the password properly.
  4. Click the Go button at the bottom right to save the changes.
You can now log in to your WordPress admin dashboard using your new password!
