How to Update Your Email Password in Outlook

To update your email password in Outlook after changing it in cPanel, follow these simple steps based on your Outlook version (2016, 2019, 2021, or Microsoft 365).

Steps to Update Email Password in Outlook (After cPanel Change)

Step 1: Get Your New Password

Make sure you have the new password that you set in cPanel for your email (e.g. yourname@yourdomain.com).

   Step 2: Open Outlook

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.

  2. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

Step 3: Edit the Email Account

  1. In the Email tab, select your email address.

  2. Click Change (or Repair in some versions).

   Step 4: Update the Password

  • Enter your new password in the Password field.

  • If using Microsoft 365 Outlook, it may ask directly for the password in a pop-up window.

Ensure your username (email address), incoming and outgoing server names are correct.

Step 5: Test the Account Settings

  • Click Next to let Outlook test the connection.

  • If the test is successful, click Finish.

   Quick Tips:

  • If you're using IMAP/POP manually, go to:

    • More Settings > Outgoing Server Tab and confirm:

      • “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” is checked.

      • “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” is selected.

    • Go to Advanced Tab to confirm ports and encryption.
