Why Am I Getting a Security Warning When Accessing cPanel?

When accessing cPanel through https://domain.com:2083, your browser may show a security/certificate warning.
Why this happens
The SSL certificate securing cPanel is issued to a shared hostname (*.hbcpanel.com), not to your individual domain. When you connect via yourdomain.com:2083, the domain in the address bar doesn't match the certificate's domain, so the browser flags it as a mismatch.
This does not mean the connection is insecure — it's fully encrypted. The warning is only about the name mismatch, not a certificate problem.
How to avoid it entirely
Use the standard cPanel link instead of the port link:
https://domain.com/cpanel
This redirects you securely to the correct hostname, and no warning is shown.
If you still see the warning
- Click Advanced on the warning page.
- Click Proceed / Accept the Risk and Continue.
- Optionally accept the certificate permanently so it won't reappear.
The same applies to Webmail (:2096) and WHM (:2087) — use /webmail or /whm links where possible.
Caution: Only accept this warning on links you typed yourself for your own domain. Don't accept certificate warnings from unexpected emails — that could be phishing
