Accessing cPanel by a domain not registered by HostBreak

How to Access cPanel if Your Domain is Registered Elsewhere

If Your domain is registered with another company

If you registered your domain elsewhere (for example GoDaddy or Namecheap), your domain must point to HostBreak before your website and yourdomain.com/cpanel will work. You can do this in either of two ways:

  1. Change the nameservers at your registrar to HostBreak's nameservers: ns1.____ and ns2.____ (listed in your welcome email).
  2. Update the A record at your current DNS provider to point to your hosting server's IP address.

Changes can take up to 24 to 48 hours to propagate. Until then, use the hostname or IP method above to manage your account. Your registrar's control panel is where you make these changes, and we can't change them from our side.

If Your domain has expired

When a domain expires:

  • Your website will go offline, and email sent to addresses on that domain will stop working.
  • yourdomain.com/cpanel will stop working.
  • Your cPanel account remains accessible through the hostname or IP, as long as your hosting service is active and paid.

To restore your domain:

  • If it is registered with HostBreak: log in to the Client Area → Domains → My Domains → select the domain → Renew.
  • If it is registered elsewhere: log in to your registrar and renew it there.

Most domains have a short grace period after expiry, and renewal is often possible at the regular price. After the grace period, the domain may enter a "redemption" period, where restoring it costs extra. If it isn't restored, it is released for anyone to register. The exact periods differ by extension (.com, .net, .pk and so on), so renew as soon as possible.

Once the domain is renewed, your website and email may take a few hours to return while DNS refreshes.

Tip: while your domain is expired, you can use cPanel → Backup to download a full backup of your website, files, databases and email, so nothing is lost.

Can't log in even with the hostname?

  • Check that your hosting invoice is paid. Unpaid hosting is suspended and cPanel won't open.
  • Make sure you are using port 2083 and https://.
  • Check your username and password, or reset your password from the Client Area.
  • Try a different network, since some ISPs block ports 2082 and 2083.
  • If your IP is blocked after failed login attempts, contact support with your IP address.
